If a Switzerland vacation is on your mind, you need to read this. As per latest reports, Switzerland Schengen Visa rules have been updated, VFS Global,
which handles the visa process in India, recently announced. Travellers applying for a Schengen Visa for Switzerland have now been asked to not submit anything outside official documents, including backup papers, explanations, with no chance for an appeal later. “All the applicants are hereby informed that only the documents listed in the official checklist for the respective visa category will be accepted at the Visa Application Centre (VAC),” the alert says. VFS has also said that only the first and last three pages of a bank statement will be accepted as part of the documents, and not the entire bank statement.
Schengen Visa for Switzerland 2025: Documents Indian Tourists Must Submit, As Per VFS Global
As per VFS Global’s 2025 checklist for Schengen tourist visa applications, Indian travellers heading to Switzerland must submit a complete set of documents strictly as listed in the official guidelines. Here's what you need to prepare:Mandatory Documents for All Applicants:
Passport: Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your return date, issued within the last 10 years, and have at least 2 blank pages.
Photograph: One recent passport-size photo (white background, not older than 6 months). It must be pasted on the form—not stapled or pinned.
Visa Application Form: Fully completed and signed. For minors, it should be signed by their legal guardians, with proof of custody if applicable.

Employer Introduction Letter: On company letterhead, signed and stamped by HR. It must mention your designation, travel dates, purpose of visit, and a no-objection statement.
Travel Insurance: Minimum coverage of EUR 30,000 (INR 30,36,660), valid across the entire Schengen area and covering medical emergencies for the entire duration of the trip.
Flight Tickets: Confirmed return flight bookings, including your name and any intra-Schengen travel plans.
Accommodation Proof: Confirmed hotel bookings, tour confirmations, or payment receipts are mandatory.
Financial Proof:
All financial documents must be on A4-size paper, stamped and signed by the bank.For employed applicants:
Last 3 months’ salary slips
Personal bank statements (3 months)
ITR-Vs (Income Tax Returns) for the past 2 years
For self-employed applicants:
Business registration documents
3 months’ business bank statements
ITR-Vs for the past 2 years
For retired applicants:
3 months’ pension statements
Proof of other income, if applicable (e.g. rent)
Family Applications:
You can apply together as a family.
Only the head of the family needs to provide financial documents, travel insurance, and bookings—as long as all names are clearly mentioned.
For Students (16 years and older):
Student ID card
Letter of introduction from the school or university
For Minors (Under 18):
If travelling with only one parent: A notarised consent letter from the non-travelling parent is required.
If travelling alone: Notarised consent from both parents must be submitted, along with copies of both parents' passports, PAN cards, or driving licences.
