Lansdowne
Lansdowne is one of those rare hill stations that hasn’t turned into a massive commercial circus (yet). The pace here is slow and comforting. You can start your morning with a walk around Tip-in-Top Point or visit the quiet St Mary’s Church that dates back to colonial times. The lake, Bhulla Tal, is perfect if all you want is a paddle boat ride and some time in the sun. Evenings are best spent sipping chai while watching the sky turn peach and purple. Some hotels host small bonfire nights and acoustic music sessions for New Year’s Eve as well.
Kasol
Kasol attracts everyone — backpackers, trekkers, music lovers and people who just want a bit of mountain magic without complicated travel. Walk down to the Parvati River and you’ll instantly understand why people keep coming back. If you're up for mild adventure, cross the suspension bridge and head to Chalal, or take a slightly longer scenic hike to Tosh.
