Night travel or 'noctourism' is a trend that revolves around visiting places after the sun has set. This might include exploring the city streets under
the moonlight, stargazing in an intimate spot, or going on nocturnal safaris. While traditional tourism is primarily concerned with activities during the day, noctourism adds an entirely new layer to the holiday experience — one in which the world seems revitalised, different and full of tranquillity under the night sky. The phenomenon is on its way to becoming a major success story in 2025, which is also the main reason behind it. A global survey by Booking.com revealed that about 62% of travellers from 33 countries are already willing to take holidays that include engaging night experiences. There are different reasons behind this change: for example, the increasing temperatures during the day and the overcrowded spots make travellers want to find cooler and quieter places to spend their time. Nighttime is a new look at the world around us—imagine iconic buildings under the soft moonlight or nocturnal animals that only come out at dusk. Such unique experiences tend to be more engaging, memorable, and less antic.
Stargazing
Find remote and dark-sky certified areas where there is a minimum of artificial light and stars are at their brightest. For example, the national parks of Utah are already marketing stargazing as a tourism product to attract travellers desiring calm and cosmic connection. Stargazing is a calming activity, perfect for those intrigued by the cosmos.
Night-time City Tours
Cities are incorporating the night travel trend by illuminating landmarks, organising quiet museum tours and vibrant night markets. People love culture, food, and the vibe of the city without the daytime crowds, which is the main reason why urban noctourism has become so popular in recent times.Nighttime Wildlife Safaris
Wildlife lovers are going along with the idea of night safaris. Many animals are active after dark, and thus night safaris present a new experience with nature. Nocturnal excursions are gaining popularity among those who want to have an experience beyond the usual.
Moonlit Adventures
It could be aurora-chasing at the Arctic, experiencing glowing bioluminescent waters, or trekking under a full moon—the night has always revealed wonders that daylight hides. People who love a bit of adventure would prefer going for these thrilling trips, with moonlight adding just the right charm to the experience.Night Markets
The night economy is booming, with food being served in the streets with neon lights, and night markets staying open till late. The nightlife vibes are vibrant and full of life, transforming the places into after-hours playgrounds. For those who are into food, culture, and a chill vibe, noctourism does have a lot of attractions.
