What is the story about?
Whether we realise it or not, airport lounges are an essential part of our trip. In fact, they are under-rated. These spaces offer a much-needed escape
from the crowded terminal, and the best ones even turn hours of waiting into something to look forward to. Imagine showering during a long layover, sleeping on an actual bed between back-to-back flights, or sampling the delicacies of the region before you even board. That sense of luxury and comfort can make a trip feel extremely special long before the plane leaves the gate. Recognising these exceptional spaces, Skytrax has released its 2026 list of the world's best independent airport lounges, and the results span four continents!
The Top Spots!
The Chase Sapphire Lounge at LaGuardia Airport takes the top position, a notable win for a lounge in one of New York's busiest gateways. Close behind, in second place, is Plaza Premium at Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. Plaza Premium also secures two additional places in the top 10.The Complete List
Here is a list of all the winners in the World's Best Independent Airport Lounges 2026 category:- Chase Sapphire Lounge (LaGuardia Airport)

How The Winners Were Chosen?
The rankings come straight from passengers. Skytrax conducted its annual passenger satisfaction survey between September 2025 and August 2026, gathering responses from travellers of more than 100 nationalities who rated over 300 airlines. Ratings were based on different aspects like facilities, hospitality, staff and other services. And then, the final list of winners was curated using those passenger scores. The results reflect real travellers' experiences rather than a judging panel's preferences. What Does The List Tell Us?
A few patterns do stand out! American brands dominate the upper half of the ranking. Chase Sapphire claims two spots, including one in Hong Kong, while Capital One and American Express Centurion both feature at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. That makes JFK the only airport with two lounges on the list, underlining how competitive the market has become for premium travellers passing through the city. Also Read:Uttarakhand: Char Dham Yatra Resumes, Kedarnath Trek Route Stays Closed Near Chirbasa
Plaza Premium, meanwhile, appears three times, in Rome, London and Dubai. That spread across Europe and the Middle East shows how a single operator can deliver a dependable experience wherever you land. Rounding out the list are regional favourites such as Coral Cosmo Lounge at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport, The Pearl in Bahrain and Primeclass Lounge in Muscat, proving that outstanding hospitality is not limited to the biggest hubs.
