You could hate Taylor Swift's brand of music, but you still can't deny that she is potentially the top contender when it comes to crowning this 'era's'
(pun intended) biggest pop icon. After 12 original albums, and 4 re-recorded ones - the reigning theme on them comfortably being heartbreak - she saying yes to what appears to be her most whirlwind, public and loved up romance in the public eye, is a bigger deal than it sounds like. And there's no reason for the wedding then, to not match the grandeur of their love story. In all honesty, if you weren't aware of Taylor and Travis' 'swift' romance timeline, you'd just as surely affirm that that they'd both found the love of their lives - the Swifties for one, are already wholeheartedly there. Coming back to the wedding, the rumour mill has been churning non-stop. It first began with news of the duo planning to host a wedding weekend - instead of just a wedding. More reports trickled in pegging the date somewhere around the United States' favourite public holiday, the 4th of July. And then came the biggest of the rumours - literally. If reports are to be believed, Taylor and Travis will be saying 'I Do' in a historic, New York City landmark.
Where are Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Getting Married?
When one says Madison Square Garden, a wedding is potentially among the last few things that come to mind. The same could be said about Swift and Kelce's unexpected but sturdy romance which already makes the potential choice seem like an aligned option. Simply known as 'the Garden' or 'MSG' by New Yorkers, the Madison Square Garden is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in the heart of New York City, in Midtown Manhattan. The typical roster for Madison Square Garden oscillates between ice hockey, professional basketball, boxing, mixed martial arts, concerts, ice shows, circuses, professional wrestling and generally other such forms of sports and entertainment. Flanked by other New York City landmarks like the Empire State Building, Koreatown and the Macy's at Herald Square, Madison Square Garden is considered the home of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League as well as the New York Knicks of the NBA. Having opened its gates back in 1968, the Madison Square Garden has been the site of several historic moments, especially in sports. Taylor and Travis then potentially wanting to get hitched within the arena begins to make more sense - the groom is after all an American professional football tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League.
Are Arena Weddings a Thing?
Well, yes...and no. If Taylor and Travis do end up typing the knot at Madison Square Garden, they won't be the first. But they will be adding their name to a super-exclusive list of couples who have said 'I Do', standing in the middle of New York City history, because this isn't a whim just about anybody can pay their way into. First things first, credit where it's due - musician Sly Stone minted this rare tradition, marrying his model-actor wife, Kathy Silva, on a stage in front of an audience of 20,000 fans. This was back in 1974.
Fast forward a few years to 1982 and The Unification Church held a massive mass wedding in the arena as 2,000 couples said their vows and 'I Do's' to one another at the same time. Taylor and Travis' wedding then, could very well be the third (or 2,002th!) on the list.
