What is the story about?
India is a massive and diverse country with beaches, deserts, mountains, and cities, and here is the catch: the ‘best time’ to visit one place might be the ‘worst’
time to visit the other. From snow-covered Himachal to sun-lit Goa, timing your trip right makes all the difference. Here is a small guide to when you should pack your bags for some of India’s most beloved destinations.
Goa: November to February
Goa is all about beaches, shacks, and laid-back vacation vibes. The winter months are the perfect time to visit Goa, with cool breezes, music festivals, and lively night markets. By the time March comes around, the heat starts to kick in, and by June, heavy rains slow everything down. If you want to experience the true Goa scene, then stick to December for that festive Christmas and New Year’s energy.
Jaipur: October to March
Rajasthan summers can be intense and feel as if you have stepped into an oven, so Jaipur is best explored during the winter season. Between October and March, the Pink City is pleasant enough to explore the forts, palaces, and the colourful markets without breaking a sweat.
Kerala (Alleppey & Munnar): September to March
Monsoon season leaves Kerala washed in lush greenery, and post-rainfall, the backwaters and tea gardens look absolutely magical. From September onwards, houseboat rides in Alleppey or the hills in Munnar are nothing short of dreamy. Summers here can be humid, which is why winters are the sweetest time to visit!
Leh-Ladakh: April to September
Leh and Ladakh stay snowed in for most of the year, but summer unlocks the passes. June to September is when you can ride through the beautiful mountain roads, see Pangong Lake glistening in shades of turquoise, and not worry about avalanches or landslides blocking your path.
Darjeeling: March to May & October to November
Darjeeling has two great windows for travel: spring and autumn. Spring brings blooming flowers and pleasant weather, while the autumn season gives clear skies and Instagram-worthy views of Kanchenjunga. Avoid the peak monsoon season because landslides here can ruin your plans.
Agra: October to March
The Taj Mahal, under winter’s soft sunlight, is the best view ever. Agra summers can be scorching and brutal, and monsoons bring humidity. The crisp winter months let you soak in the breathtaking Mughal architecture without being covered in sweat.
