The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is all set to roll out its redesigned ticket booking website today, which is July 15. The main
aim of the revamped platform is to improve the online reservation experience by offering a page that does not keeping handling, has better handling of heavy traffic and a refreshed user interface. All in all, this new website may bring relief from site crashes and also have a better speed. It mat also introduce mobile-based authentication, support for regional languages and options to choose preferred seats. Reports suggest that it may have a capacity to host 1 lakh users at a given point in time. The new site may also remove the ‘CAPTCHA’ step, which is used to identify whether the user is a human.

It all started in June when Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that a new and much improved website of IRCTC will be launched by July 15 of this year. A student specifically told Ashwini Vaishnaw about an issue with the website's CAPTCHA verification. The Railway Minister immediately called an official and told them that the students are demanding a new website. "Will we be able to do it in 30 days?" This is when the Railway Minister said that the new IRCTC website would be launched by July 15.

With this feature, passengers will now be able to specify which seats they would like, rather than being assigned any random one.
A Fare Calendar
Users will now be able to compare ticket prices as well across different dates before confirming a booking.
Unified Seat Availability
Instead of juggling between sleeper, AC 3 Tier and other classes one at a time, the new site shows availability across all the classes on as ingle screen. This small change helps you conveniently make a choice.

Additionally, this new upgraded website will be able to support multiple Indian languages. With this, booking can be genuinely accessible outside English and Hindi-heavy user bases. The new website will also bring together services for Divyangjan, students and patients, groups that currently rely on separate processes for concession bookings.
