A good news for all the travellers! People booking their flight tickets will now be able to cancel with a full refund or even reschedule them within 48
hours without having to pay any additional charges. This development comes in as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has introduced some changes. An Economic Times report states that passengers who are travelling by air may soon be able to cancel with a full refund. In fact, they will also be able to reschedule their flights. And all of this without paying any additional charges. However, there is a catch. You will need to do this within 48 hours. Details About The New Rules By DGCA These new rules were discussed in the Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR). Additionally, the authorities also announced that if a passenger has booked a flight ticket through a travel agent or a portal, the responsibility of the refund will lie with the airline. This is because the agents are their appointed representatives. The DGCA further announced that airlines cannot levy an additional charge for correction in the name of the same person. If a passenger points reports an error within 24 hours of booking, it needs to be corrected for free. However, this only applies to tickets booked directly through airline's website. The airlines will now have to provide a 'Look-in Option' for a period of 48 hours. During this period, a passenger can cancel or even reschedule a ticket without paying those extra bucks. However, you will still need to pay the fare difference of the new flight that you pick. Important Note: This facility will not be available for passengers who have a departure in less than five days for domestic flights. For international flights, this does not apply if the departure is within 15 days of the booking date.
