On August 10, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Maharashtra’s 12th Vande Bharat Express, connecting Nagpur (Ajni) and Pune over a spectacular
881 km route. Clocking the journey in about 12 hours, this gleaming blue-and-white marvel is now India’s longest Vande Bharat Express, surpassing the iconic New Delhi–Varanasi route.
The Longest Vande Bharat Route In India
Covering 10 scheduled stops—Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Shegaon, Bhusaval, Jalgaon, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahmednagar, and Daund Chord Line—this train averages 73 kmph, making it the fastest link between Nagpur and Pune. This Vande Bharat comes with 8 coaches—1 Executive Chair Car (44 seats) and 7 Chair Cars (546 seats)—bringing the total capacity to 590 passengers. The train is air-conditioned for comfort with automatic temperature control, and also has large panoramic windows perfect for soaking in countryside views. Unlike short-haul Vande Bharat trips, this 12-hour ride lets passengers witness Maharashtra’s changing faces in one trip, right from Nagpur’s orange orchards, Shegaon’s pilgrimage energy, Bhusaval’s railway heritage, Manmad’s vineyards, and the scenic ghats near Pune.
Amritsar–Katra Vande Bharat Express
The new Amritsar–Katra Vande Bharat Express will cut down travel time and offer a premium experience, making it a blessing for those heading to Vaishno Devi Temple, Jammu, or just travelling to J&K. This will be the fifth Vande Bharat service for the Union Territory, after routes like New Delhi–Katra and Srinagar–Katra.Quick Facts:
