want to stay there for a while. Well, good news! Now the country is offering a digital nomad visa for less than Rs 13,000. This means you can now actually move to Estonia and work from there for up to one year. Did you also know the country has a rich history and its capital Tallinn has a stunning medieval old town that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It attracts a slew of tourists. What's more is the country has a lot of forests with countless lakes and islands. How idyllic, right? So, people who're into hiking, bird watching and like to spend time in the lap of nature are in for a treat. It is also the country that is deemed to be one of the most digitally advanced countries. Now coming to the subject of who is eligible for the country's digital nomad visa, well, listed below are some of the prerequisites that you have to meet. Who is eligible?
You are a remote worker, an employee, or an entrepreneur with a business registered outside of the country.
You could also be a freelancer who works with mostly international clients.
You need to earn a gross income of at least €4,500 (Rs 4,57,371 approx.) per month during the six months preceding the application.
Documents required for the process:
- A valid passport
- A completed and signed visa application form
- Proof of employment or business activity (contracts, business registration, etc.)
- Bank statements from the past six months showing qualifying income
- A letter of intent outlining your reasons for moving to Estonia and how you meet the eligibility criteria
- Proof of health insurance covering at least €30,000 (Rs 30,49,740 approx.) for the duration of your stay
- Clean criminal background certificate
- Proof of accommodation in Estonia
- One passport-sized photo
Who Can Apply?
Non-EU/EEA nationals who wish to work remotely while residing in Estonia for up to 12 months can apply for this visa. You can apply for a Digital Nomad Visa if you are already legally living in Estonia on another visa. How To Apply
- Fill out the Digital Nomad Visa application form online. You will find the form on the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
- After filling out the application, you have to submit it in person at your nearest Estonian embassy or consulate. You will have to pay the visa fee of €120 which amounts to Rs 12,199 approximately.
- The Embassy may conduct a short interview. The purpose of the interaction will be to confirm your eligibility and the purpose of your stay.
- After all this is done, you have to wait for the visa to get processed. It usually takes about 15-30 days, but in some cases it can take longer also.
