In a major boost for Indian travellers, Argentina has eased entry rules for Indian passport holders who already possess a valid US tourist visa. With this
new policy, Indians no longer need to apply for a separate Argentine visa or Electronic Travel Authorization (AVE) to enter the South American nation. The regulation, published in Argentina’s Official Gazette, takes effect immediately and is aimed at attracting more international tourists. According to Deregulation Minister Federico Sturzennegger, Indian citizens with valid US visas can now enter Argentina without additional fees or paperwork. Tourism officials believe the move will significantly increase Indian arrivals. In 2024 alone, over 2.2 million Indians travelled to the US, and with many already holding US visas, Argentina hopes to tap into this market. The decision comes after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei in July, where tourism cooperation was highlighted as a key area. Argentine Ambassador to India Mariano Caucino has also confirmed that facilitating Indian tourism is now a top priority for the government. Indian passport holders with a valid US visa enjoy easier access to several countries around the world without the hassle of applying for a separate visa. Popular destinations include Mexico, Canada (with eTA), the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and several Central and South American countries like Argentina, Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, and Panama. Many Caribbean nations such as the Dominican Republic and Bahamas also allow entry with a valid US visa.
