decision to move the festival to Mumbai stems from a fan survey conducted by the organisers, which revealed that half of the respondents expressed interest in experiencing the flagship festival outside of Goa, with a notable preference for Mumbai. This relocation aims to enhance accessibility and provide a more immersive experience for attendees.

The theme for Sunburn 2025 is “Ascend: Beyond the Real.” The organisers promise an upgraded production, innovative stage design, and improved infrastructure to elevate the festival experience. While the specific venue for Sunburn 2025 has yet to be announced, ticket sales will commence in two phases. An exclusive pre-sale for RuPay credit card holders will begin on August 12, 2025, at 12 PM, followed by general ticket sales on August 14, 2025, also at 12 PM, through BookMyShow. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further announcements regarding the venue and the artist line-up, which are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.The Government of Maharashtra is backing the festival as part of its initiative to promote music tourism in the state. Atul Patne, Principal Secretary of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, highlighted the cultural and economic significance of such events, stating, "Maharashtra has always been at the forefront of shaping India’s cultural and entertainment economy. By bringing landmark experiences like the Sunburn Festival to Mumbai, we are actively building a robust music tourism ecosystem."
Launched in 2007, Sunburn was originally held in Vagator, Goa. However, later, it was shifted to Pune from 2016 to 2018 before returning to Goa. Now, fans will witness the new edition in Mumbai.
