An Indian artificial intelligence infrastructure firm is spearheading the creation of a vast 'Humanity-First AI City' spanning 70 acres in Bengaluru. This
ambitious undertaking, projected to cost $650 million, is being developed in collaboration with Nvidia. The core objective is to establish a comprehensive research and infrastructure ecosystem dedicated to advancing sophisticated agentic and physical AI systems within practical, real-world environments. The initial phase of this grand project involves the development of the B1 AI Superpark, a substantial 500,000 square foot campus located in Sarjapur. This dedicated facility is engineered for the intensive computational demands of AI model training, fine-tuning, and inference. It is designed to offer ready-to-use research spaces intended to accommodate over 10,000 researchers and innovators by the year's end. Looking further ahead, the overarching vision for the AI City aims to foster a thriving community of up to 25,000 AI researchers by 2029, solidifying Bengaluru's position as a global leader in AI development.
Superpark's Core
The planned Superpark campus is meticulously engineered to support high-density computing and complex simulation workloads, crucial for cutting-edge AI development. It will feature robust connectivity options, including up to 400Gbps links to major AI cloud platforms, ensuring ultra-low latency, below one millisecond. This low-latency environment is essential for enabling large-scale, intricate AI experiments and rapid iteration. The initiative has already secured significant backing from prominent research institutions, including the Airawat Research Foundation (IIT Kanpur), SPARC at IISc, Wadhwani School of AI (IIT Kanpur), BITS Pilani, the iSPIRT Foundation, and IIT Ropar, who are acting as early research collaborators. These partnerships are set to foster interdisciplinary work among researchers and startups, focusing on critical areas such as robotics, autonomous vehicle technology, advanced mobility solutions, and nuanced human-machine interaction.
