What's Happening?
Brazil's state-owned Empresa Gerencial de Projetos Navais (EMGEPRON) and TideWise are set to begin construction of the Suppressor 7, a multi-purpose unmanned surface vehicle (USV). This initiative aims to meet the Brazilian Navy's requirements for a system capable of mine-countermeasures and harbor patrol missions. The project, awarded to TideWise with a contract valued at BRL18.3 million, includes the development of a deployable command-and-control station. The USV, scheduled for launch in August 2026 and commissioning in April 2027, will feature advanced equipment such as an automatic fire extinguishing system, multibeam sonar, and a UAV take-off and landing platform. It will operate both remotely and autonomously, enhancing naval capabilities.
