Applied Digital Corporation has announced plans to construct a $3 billion data center campus, Polaris Forge 2, near Harwood, North Dakota. The project, set to begin in September 2025, will feature a 280-megawatt capacity with potential for future expansion. Operations are expected to commence in 2026, with full buildout by 2027. This development follows the company's previous project, Polaris Forge 1, in Ellendale, North Dakota. The new campus will initially consist of two facilities and is projected to create over 200 permanent jobs, along with long-term contractor opportunities. The site has secured more than 900 acres and a power supply agreement with Cass County Electric Cooperative. Applied Digital is also in advanced negotiations with a U.S.-based investment-grade hyperscaler for the campus.
