Portland General Electric (PGE) has energized three new battery storage projects totaling 475 MW/1.9 GWh to enhance grid reliability and reduce price volatility in the Portland metropolitan area. These projects increase PGE's large-scale battery storage capacity to 492 MW, marking a significant expansion. The batteries are strategically located at key substations and are designed to support the integration of renewable energy sources like wind and solar. The projects include the Seaside, Sundial, and Constable facilities, developed in collaboration with Eolian and NextEra Energy Resources.
