What's Happening?
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a state-run telecom company in India, has signed Memorandums of Understanding with major tech companies including Ericsson, Qualcomm, Cisco, and Nokia to establish advanced training programs in 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), networking, and cybersecurity. The initiative will be based at the Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The training hub aims to prepare over 2,000 participants annually for next-generation telecom jobs, offering courses ranging from short modules to intensive programs. Each partner will contribute specialized training, with Ericsson focusing on mobile technologies, Qualcomm on AI-driven network optimization, Cisco on networking and cybersecurity, and Nokia on real-world telecom infrastructure and AI tools.

BSNL plans to deploy another 100,000 4G towers across India, following the successful installation of nearly 100,000 towers. The company is preparing for a nationwide 5G rollout, contingent upon the stabilization of its 4G network. The training hub will play a crucial role in ensuring that the workforce is ready for the transition to 5G technology, which is expected to enhance service quality and meet future telecom demands.
