The Atlanta Falcons are thin at the edge rusher position following the loss of Jalon Walker, and according to a report from CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, the team is signing veteran defensive end Cameron Sample to the 90-man roster.
Sample, 27, spent his first five NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, recording seven sacks and 26 QB hits in 61 games (five starts). The former fourth-round pick signed with the San Francisco 49ers during free agency, but he was released by the team last week.
"The Falcons are signing defensive end Cameron Sample, a source tells CBS Sports," Zenitz wrote on Twitter. "Former fourth-round draft pick who played for the Bengals the last five seasons."
Atlanta not only lost Walker, but edge rusher James Pearce Jr. is expected
to receive an eight-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.
