There is no more exciting player in the NFL right now than Bijan Robinson in a prime-time, nationally televised game.
Last night's pulverization of the New Orleans Saints was the sixth win for the Atlanta Falcons in their last seven prime-time games - and Robinson's production has been the single greatest factor in that remarkable run of success.
Robinson's 59-yard touchdown run to start the festivities was not only the fastest speed any ball-career has recorded in the league so far this season - it tied him with Dallas Cowboys legend and Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith for a long-held record on Monday Night Football, according to Bobby Kownack at NFL.com.
"It marked his third rushing TD of 50-plus yards on Monday Night Football, tying Emmitt Smith
for the most all time. By posting his fourth consecutive MNF game with at least 125 rushing yards, he also tied Smith and Eric Dickerson for the longest such streak in NFL history, per NFL Research."
Along the way, Robinson got a comparison to Detroit Lions great Barry Sanders from Smith's former teammate Troy Aikman on the ESPN broadcast.
Robinson's raw numbers are impressive enough, but getting mentioned in the same breath as Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders shows you where his career is headed. The sky is the ceiling.
Quarterbacks still get most of the attention, but the NFL should be embracing Bijan Robinson as one of its most-special and marketable players. He should be on the cover of Madden and Wheaties boxes. He should have cameos on Lanterns and should be featured on every episode of Good Morning America.
Only then will we start to appreciate just how much attention Robinson's career deserves.
