The Atlanta Falcons made some changes to their practice squad on Monday afternoon. According to The Athletic's Josh Kendall, the Falcons have signed offensive tackle Colby Sorsdal and released undrafted rookie center James Brockermeyer in a corresponding move.
Sorsdal was selected by the Detroit Lions in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of William & Mary. He appeared in 17 games (three starts) over his first two seasons but missed all of the 2025 campaign after being placed on the injured reserve list last August.
Brockermeyer was one of the UDFA standouts during training camp. The rookie drew praise from Falcons offensive line coach Bill Callahan after filling in for center Ryan Neuzil early in camp.
"I'm really proud of the job he did
today," Callahan said of Brockermeyer. "He had to step up and step in and take over the controls. He did a great job. He was like the air traffic controller today, so he landed all the planes safely, which was great."
In other Falcons news, the team named Michael Penix Jr. the starting quarterback for Thursday's game against the Green Bay Packers. Penix has been out since Week 11 of the 2025 NFL season but will look to lead Atlanta to its first win of the year in his return.
