The Atlanta Falcons made another roster move on Thursday morning, signing veteran linebacker Josh Woods and releasing defensive tackle Ross Blacklock in a corresponding transaction. Woods spent the last two seasons in Atlanta, primarily contributing on special teams.
Last year, Woods recorded 14 total tackles over 12 games for the Falcons. The 30-year-old has also played for the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals during his seven NFL seasons.
The Falcons clearly needed some additional help at linebacker after placing DeAngelo Malone and Troy Andersen on the PUP list to begin camp. Woods is familiar with defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich's scheme and has made the most of his prior opportunities in Atlanta.
