The Atlanta Falcons are underdogs for this week's prime-time game against the New Orleans Saints on Monday night. However, they do have a few advantages working in their favor.
For one thing, the Falcons have been extremely difficult to beat in evening games the last couple of years, going 5-1 since the beginning of the 2025 season.
For another, a couple of betting trends are on Atlanta's side going into Week 4. The Athletic has the details.
"They have covered six of their past seven divisional games when getting extended rest, like they did here, coming off a Thursday Night Football appearance in Week 3... New Orleans has failed to cover in eight consecutive primetime home games, dating back to 2019."
Covering isn't winning, but at least it's something
for a team that's been anything but consistent in most respects over the last several seasons.
Another thing they have going for them is the greatest prime-time performer in NFL history, running back Bijan Robinson - who's coming off a 213-yard performance against the Green Bay Packers last week. The Saints are near the bottom in run defense going into Week 4, and if they can't turn that around they'll get run over by Robinson.
The Falcons also appear to finally have their quarterback situation settled. Michael Penix Jr's return to the lineup in Week 3 was the best game they've gotten at QB since Kirk Cousins led them to a one-point win over the Bucs last December. If Penix can pick up where he left off in Green Bay, it's going to be tough for a depleted New Orleans team to keep up.
