One thing above all else has become abundantly clear about the Atlanta Falcons going into the 2026 season: this is Bijan Robinson's team.
Usually that honor is reserved for whoever the starting quarterback is, but as the Falcons have no true QB1 on their roster at the moment, it falls to their best player and most-gifted athlete. Right now that's Bijan Robinson, and whoever is in second place isn't in the same stratosphere.
Robinson was just voted the third-best player in the entire NFL by his peers, and he's going to need a special season if the Falcons are going to continue their streak of seven-or-eight win seasons. How special?
According to Josh Kendall at The Athletic, not only can Robinson break Chris Johnson's scrimmage yard record, he can also
beat Darren Sproles' record for all-purpose yards in a single season.
"Just predicting Robinson to break the yards-from-scrimmage mark wouldn’t be all that bold. He came within 211 yards of Chris Johnson’s record (2,509 yards in 2009) last year. To set the all-purpose mark (which includes return yards), he’ll need to top Darren Sproles’ 2,696 in 2011. This is not a bet that Robinson will return kicks for the Falcons this year. It’s a bet he’ll be overfed in both the rushing and passing scheme in Atlanta."
Even without returning kicks or punts Sproles' record should definitely be in reach for Robinson.
In fact, we think Robinson's ceiling is quite a bit higher, assuming he can stay healthy for the full season. If Robinson plays all 17 games and the quarterback room is as bad as it appears to be, it's possible that he could wind up approaching 3,000 total yards for the year.
