It doesn't get much worse in the NFL than the performance that Atlanta Falcons starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. put in this past week. Penix threw four interceptions in heavy rain against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and if not for a 76-yard catch and run by Jahan Dotson, his numbers would have looked much worse.
While the third-year quarterback has been far more good than bad this season, his numbers have taken a massive hit after his game against the Buccaneers. Here's where he ranks statistically after an all-time stinker in Tampa.
- Completion rate: 61.9% (30th)
- Passing yards: 1,282 (24th)
- Passing yards per game: 213.7 (20th)
- Yards per attempt: 7.6 (14th)
- Passing touchdowns: 9 (tied for 19th)
- 20+ yard passes: 17 (tied for 21st)
- Passer rating: 90.9 (18th)
- QBR: 56.2 (20th)
- EPA/play: 0.073 (17th)
- Success rate: 45.6% percent (19th)
- CPOE: -4.3% percent (32nd)
- Air yards: 7.5 (22nd)
Woof. As you can see, Penix's numbers all took a huge tumble, especially in passer rating - where he fell nearly 20 points in just one week. Having missed the first couple of games, it makes sense that he's trailing
in stats like total passing yards and touchdowns, but his efficiency could definitely be better.
