The Atlanta Falcons lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in rain-filled slop-fest on Sunday, dropping to 3-5 overall following the 16-0 loss at Raymond James Stadium. Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. threw four interceptions while Bucs QB Baker Mayfield failed to complete a single pass.
Atlanta was unable to slow down Tampa Bay's rushing attack, giving up 170 yards on 27 carries to Bucky Irving and another 140 yards on 25 carries to Kenny Gainwell. With Nick Folk missing an early field goal attempt, the Falcons had a collective failure of all three phases.
Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski admitted the rain played a factor but made sure to point out that both teams had to deal with the same conditions.
"You gotta play the game that's in front
of you," said Stefanski. "The conditions were what they were for both teams. We didn't do a good job as a team."
