The radical improvement of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix was on full display this past week. Penix put in his best game yet this season against San Francisco, getting the ball out quickly and accurately. In the end he completed 25 of 34 pass attempts for 213 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
That puts Penix at 1,157 yards, nine touchdowns and just one pick on the season. Let's see where those numbers rank Penix statistically going into Week 8.
- Completion rate: 66.7% (tied for 12th)
- Passing yards: 1,157 (23rd)
- Passing yards per game: 231.4 (19th)
- Yards per attempt: 8.0 (tied for 8th)
- Passing touchdowns: 9 (tied for 17th)
- 20+ yard passes: 16 (tied for 19th)
- Passer rating: 109.1 (8th)
- QBR: 67.2 (9th)
- EPA/play: 0.189 (10th)
- Success rate: 48.5% percent (14th)
- CPOE: 0.1% percent (21st)
- Air yards: 7.3 (25th)
By now we have established that Penix has leveled his game up. Now the only question is if he can do so consistently.
Next up Penix will face a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that ranks 14th against the pass. Only five teams are giving up fewer fantasy points per game to opposing QBs
this year.
