The Atlanta Falcons couldn't do anything right in their 34-3 blowout loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. Sunday's game got so bad that head coach Kevin Stefanski benched quarterback Cooper Rush for undrafted rookie Jack Strand in the third quarter.
Strand's first career pass attempt was a pick-six, but he still was an improvement over Rush. The rookie went 8/15 for 59 yards and two turnovers (one fumble, one INT) in his debut.
Atlanta's defense didn't have a great day, but Jeff Ulbrich's unit was put in an impossible situation. The Falcons offense turned it over four times, and it was an another overall sloppy showing by all three phases.
"I'm disappointed in our performance as a football team - that's all of us" said Stefanski, acknowledging
that he has let the fans down. "We have the best fans in the world and they want to support us. We have to give them a reason to support us."
The Falcons are expected to start Michael Penix Jr. next week against the Green Bay Packers, but Stefanski did not provide an update after Sunday's game.

The Falcons will not practice on Monday but will release a simulated injury report in the afternoon. Atlanta will face the Green Bay Packers on Thursday at 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime.
