The Atlanta Falcons laid another egg in front of their fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday, losing 31-23 to the Chicago Bears to fall to 2-4 overall and 0-3 at home this season.
The Falcons' offense looked outmatched by the Bears defense in the first quarter, while Chicago was clicking on all cylinders. Caleb Williams lit Atlanta up in his return from a hamstring injury, going 30/36 for 305 yards and one touchdown.
Michael Penix Jr. got off to another slow start but did his best to keep the Falcons in the game late. Penix finished with 225 passing yards and three touchdowns, but his fumble in the final minutes ended Atlanta's comeback attempt.
Overall, the Falcons committed three fumbles, two of which were muffed punts by wide receiver Zachariah
Branch. The rookie return man did bounce back with a few nice plays late, but it was tough to overcome the miscues.
The other big story of the day was the injury to Falcons rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels, who was carted off with a neck injury in a scary moment. Daniels is doing better, reportedly showing up in the locker room after the game.

Here's how those around the league reacted to Sunday's Falcons-Bears matchup in Atlanta.
The Falcons have released an encouraging statement on Kendal Daniels.
— Josh Kendall (@JoshTheAthletic) October 18, 2026
"Atlanta Falcons linebacker Kendal Daniels is alert and has movement in all his extremities. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for further evaluation."
While we were wrapping up with Bijan Robinson in the locker room after the game, rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels came in with a couple of trainers. He was walking on his own, which is obviously a good sign after the scary scene today.

So far we’ve seen:
-2 BAD blowouts
-2 solid wins
-2 hit or miss performances due to QB play
What do we assess this 2026 team is as we are midway through October?
Michael Penix Jr. is the first #Falcons player with three or more pass touchdowns and a two-point conversion pass in a single game since Matt Ryan in 2019, per ESPN Research.
