Michael Penix got off to a sluggish start tonight for the Atlanta Falcons, missing his first three pass attempts and getting extremely lucky that the first didn't end in an interception.
Penix and the Falcons weren't much better on their subsequent drives, and weren't able to get anything going until late in the second quarter against the Baltimore Ravens.
That's when Penix hit tight end Kyle Pitts behind the line of scrimmage for a screen, and he rumbled forward for a gain of 13 yards. The Pitts catch and run seemed to settle Penix down and he started slinging it the way we've seen the last couple of games - starting with a beautiful 25-yard corner route to WR1 Drake London.
Next, Penix
found Atlanta's WR2 Jahan Dotson deep for a gain of 38 yards.
Finally, Penix found Pitts again, this time in the end zone with a fastball that had some extra mustard on it.
That's Pitts' first touchdown of the 2026 season.
Even though they haven't been able to get their superstar running back Bijan Robinson really going yet (28 yards on five carries) the Falcons now lead 14-6 at the two-minute warning.
