What is the story about?

As Notre Dame’s No. 3 spot in the US LBM Coaches Poll remained stagnant, so does the team’s position in the updated USA TODAY Sports NCAA Re-Rank.

The Fighting Irish are No. 3 once again in this week’s re-rank. In fact, No. 1 through No. 5 – which includes Georgia, Texas, Miami and Ohio State – remains unchanged.

Notre Dame is coming off a 37-26 victory over North Carolina. The Tar Heels are currently No. 68 in the re-rank, dropping 15 spots from last week. Stanford, the Irish’s opponent this weekend, is No. 96 in the re-rank. The Cardinal fell 12 spots after they lost 57-3 to Wake Forest. The two square off this weekend in South Bend.

After the results from Week 5 of the college football season, the SEC has dominated the top of the NCAA Re-Rank
