The USA Women’s Basketball team had to sweat out in a tight contest against Spain in the FIBA World Cup semifinals on Saturday in Berlin, Germany.
The Americans led 39-36 at the half, but Team Spain went on a 22-19 run in the third quarter to tie it at 58-58.
Team USA, however, used an 18-9 spurt in the fourth to win 76-66. As the Americans continue to roll through the tournament, ex-Notre Dame standout Jackie Young continues to assist in big ways.
The Las Vegas all-star guard tallied 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals for Team USA. She also still leads the team in points with 11.2 per game.
It’s also the third game of this tournament that Young has scored 12 points.
Washington Mystics all-star Sonia Citron, also a former Fighting
Irish standout, did not play in Saturday’s game.
The Americans (5-0) will face France in the FIBA Women’s World Cup final on Sunday afternoon. France beat host Germany, 86-64, in the other semifinals matchup.
