No. 2 Notre Dame has its hands full with No. 8 BYU, and the Fighting Irish are trying to come back from an 11-point first-half deficit.
The Fighting Irish thought they might get something going when BYU punt returner Cannon DeVries fumbled a Jasper Scaife punt.
Bubba Frazier recovered for Notre Dame.
The Irish hoped to turn the turnover into a touchdown, but after a rocky drive, Notre Dame would settle for a Spencer Porath 31-yard field goal to make the score 21-13 in favor of BYU with 3:17 remaining in the third quarter.
