Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman isn't worried about a controversial College Football Playoff committee rating that put the Irish a lot lower than many expected.
The coach is saying it doesn't really matter -- that winning every remaining game on the schedule is more important than a preliminary ranking. A ranking that will change each week until the playoff is set.
That's the attitude Notre Dame must have -- it must beat Miami (FL) this week to pretty much guarantee itself a spot. A loss might not be catastrophic, since the Irish get an automatic bid if they're in the top 12 of the final rankings, but Notre Dame will likely require help from other teams losing if that happens.
Marcus Freeman on Notre Dame's No. 11 ranking: "It
don't matter. It don't matter today, at least. "Every time anybody says it, I mean, you just reminded me to get back in the moment. That's what's important. We use that as a reminder to continue to prepare."
