Notre Dame football has been around since 1887, and over the course of that time it has racked up multiple wins, national championships and Heisman Trophy winners.
All of that impressive work culminated on Saturday as the Irish defeated Navy for the program’s No. 1000 win as shared by the official social media account. Only one other program, Michigan
, can claims this many wins in their programs history. The long list of Notre Dame legends helped carry the program to this new height, starting win George “The Gipper” Gipp, passing the torch to players like Johnny Lujack, Paul Hornung, Joe Montana, Tim Brown, Jerome Bettis and Manti Te’o. There is clearly a long list of historical players that graced Notre Dame Stadium, all of them playing a major
part in getting the program to where it is now.
It’s a massive accomplishment for Notre Dame football, as the goal now is to end the title drought that spans from 1988.
