It didn’t look like Notre Dame and USC would get together this quickly to get the two teams back on each others schedule, but on the first Monday of August, the two rivals put aside their differences and announced The Battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh is back on.
According to multiple reports, the Irish and Trojans will meet back on the field starting in 2030, with the games most likely to be played early in the season according to The Athletics Pete Sampson. There is some bad news that came out of this announcement, as it looks like the home-and-home series that Notre Dame had scheduled with Indiana will not happen.
However, while it’s great to take on your top in-state foe, it’s even better to see the return of one of the greatest rivalries
in the sport. While we will have to wait five years since the last edition of Notre Dame and USC, knowing that there are games scheduled for the future eases this pain just a little bit.
