Ex-Notre Dame standout Safety Kyle Hamilton has been a big piece on a Baltimore Ravens’ squad that has one of the top defenses in the NFL over the years.
Hamilton is a three-time Pro Bowler with a few first and second team All-Pro nods to go with it. On Sunday night in Baltimore’s road game at Atlanta, Hamilton showed why he’s one of the top defensive backs in the league.
The former Fighting Irish star secured the Ravens’ 30-23 come-from-behind overtime win with an interception during the Falcons’ final drive of the game.
On 1st-and-10 inside Atlanta’s 50-yard line and 2:11 left on the clock, Tua Tagovailoa – who was in for injured starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. – set up from the shotgun and threw up the middle.
Hamilton, however, was there
to pick off Tagovailoa and end the game at Baltimore’s 40-yard line. It was his sixth career interception.
The Falcons had a 23-15 lead with 2:31 to go in regulation. The Ravens tied it at 23-23 after Tyler Huntley – who was starting in place of an injured Lamar Jackson – connected with receiver Devontez Walker for a 7-yard touchdown pass and Derrick Henry ran in the 2-point conversion.
Baltimore (4-1) took the lead for good when Huntley recorded a rushing TD with 2:57 left in OT.
Hamilton finished with six tackles on the night. He now has 39 tackles so far this season and 394 in his career.
In his three seasons at Notre Dame, Hamilton had 138 tackles, eight INTs, a pick six and 16 pass deflections. He was a Consensus All-American in the 2021 season and had other All-American honors in his first two seasons in South Bend.
