Sports Illustrated recently put out a second edition of its mock 2027 NFL draft, with a pair of Notre Dame stars being included.
Cornerback Leonard Moore and quarterback CJ Carr made the cut as potential top-10 draft picks. SI predicted that Moore could be taken No. 9 overall by the Baltimore Ravens, while Carr is projected to be picked No. 10 overall by the Cleveland Browns.
Moore is predicted “to be a steal here” for the Ravens, SI stated in its report. Moore has had five tackles, a pass break-up and a pass deflection so far for the US LBM Coaches Poll No. 3 Irish.
“He’s a prospect who will likely become a shutdown corner in the pros,” SI’s report added. “The 6-foot-2, 197-pound Moore also has a nose for the ball after recording five interceptions
in 2025. Teams haven’t targeted much of his side of the field through three games this season.”
SI noted that Carr has “quietly put up stellar numbers” compared to the four other quarterbacks – Texas’ Arch Manning, Oregon’s Dante Moore, Miami’s Darian Mensah and Ole Miss’s Trinidad Chambliss – that are projected to be taken before him.
In three games so far this season, Carr has completed 72.6% of his passes for six touchdowns and 726 yards (242 yards per game). The QB also has a rushing score for good measure.
“However, similar to Mensah, Carr will need to prove it when the schedule gets tougher later in the season,” SI’s report added. “Still, it’s hard not to be impressed with the 6-foot-2, 215-pound signal-caller, who has shown strong command as a pocket passer.”
