One of the more interesting battles of fall camp for Notre Dame football is who is going to be the backup to starting quarterback CJ Carr.
Not only is it important for this year, it’s for the following as well. As we saw last year with an open competition, the loser almost never sticks around the following year, as Kenny Minchey entered the portal after losing out to Carr.
At the moment Noah Grubbs, Blake Hebert, and Teddy Jarrard are trying to earn the spot behind the starter. While very early in fall camp, the early part is showing one has risen above the rest, Jarrard who took the majority of snaps with the second-team according to On3’s Jack Soble. It’s a bit surprising that this is the case, considering he’s only been on campus for a few
months and he was originally in the 2027 class.
The 6-foot, 4-inch and 210-pound Georgia native technically should be a senior in high school, but he’s already with Notre Dame pushing for the backup spot. At this point of the season, it’s impossible to say that Jarrard will be there the whole year, but so far he’s already impressing the coaching staff.
