News broke on Wednesday afternoon that Miami star wide receiver Malachi Toney could potentially miss the game against Notre Dame this weekend.
Another update happened later in the early evening, as Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports posted on social media that his sources have the potential All-American missing the next 4-6 weeks, with a potential return in time for the College Football Playoff. It has yet to be confirmed, but this would be great news for the Irish.
While it’s terrible anytime a player gets injured, any help that Notre Dame can get to beat Miami is more than welcome, especially considering its status with the CFP. The Irish need a signature win according to the committee, a knocking off the No. 1 team in the country, even without
Toney, would qualify.
It would have been a great matchup to see Notre Dame star corner Leonard Moore covering Toney, but that doesn’t look like it will happen.
The belief is that Malachi Toney will miss 4-6 weeks while recovering, sources tell @YahooSports. The timeline puts a possible return for the playoffs. https://t.co/KcXf5QxY8J
