The Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team has a nice auditorium to hang out in for large team meetings, and now it has a name.
The auditorium inside the new Jack and Kathy Shields Family Hall will be called the Dave and Clare Butler Auditorium. The 190-seat space gets the name after a donation from the couple -- Dave was a Notre Dame linebacker from 1983-1986.
The auditorium's seats are meant to replicate the premium seats in the lower level of Notre Dame stadium. The space has full video replay capability and what the university calls cinema quality video and audio.
“The Butler Family is proud to be part of the Shields Hall team and appreciates the opportunity to invest in the future of Notre Dame alongside past and future generations of Notre Dame teammates,”
Butler said. The couple have also established the Butler Family Linebacker Grant-In-Aid and Butler Family Endowment for Excellence for the Harper Cancer Research Institute.
