Notre Dame might be No. 4 and No. 6, respectively, in the latest US LBM Coaches and Associated Press polls, but the team’s position in this week’s ESPN Football Power Index is completely different.
The Fighting Irish moved from No. 2 to the top spot with an FPI of 26.8. Notre Dame and Ohio State, who is now No. 2, swapped spots. Miami, Georgia and LSU round out the top-5 in the rankings.
The Irish have a projected win-loss record of 10.4-1.6, with a 51.1% chance to win out.
ESPN is giving Notre Dame a 79.7% probability to reach the College Football Playoff, a 23.6% chance of making the CFP National Championship game and a 14.2% possibility to win it all.
