Notre Dame football opened up its season with a 41-13 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday evening, and on Tuesday the US LBM Coaches Poll jumped them up a spot due to Oregon moving down a few.
The Irish started the season as the No. 5 team in the poll, and it was enough for them to make a slight jump. There most likely will be some change after this coming weekend, as their No. 1 and No. 3 teams, Ohio State and Texas, will face off against each other in a highly anticipated Week 2 battle. Georgia is sandwiched between them with Indiana at No. 5 to round out the top-5.
Looking ahead to Notre Dame future opponents, Miami checked in at No. 7, BYU at No. 15 (both didn’t move) and SMU rounded out them being at No. 17, moving up three spots.
Clemson dropped out of the rankings this week, with Navy also receiving some votes.
