Notre Dame’s athletic department isn’t one to hold players back from competing with two different team, and it very much looks like another star is emerging from the dual-sport list in South Bend.
Matt Jeffery has starred for the Irish lacrosse team, winning ACC Freshman of the Year in 2025, then earning some All-American nods and All-ACC this past season as NCAA runners-up. He’s a third-year football player, one who has seen much time on the field, however that could be changing this season.
On3’s Jack Soble shared a report on social media highlighting the 5-foot, 11-inch and 195-pound receiver, that “it’s time for everyone … to stop sleeping on Matt Jeffery.” While he has just one catch in his career, going for 37-yards against Arkansas last
fall, there is plenty of playing time at the position for him to carve out a role.
The only know commodity is another lacrosse player, or former player, in Jordan Faison. Multiple other players like Micah Gilbert, Jaden Greathouse, Quincy Porter, Mylan Graham, Devin Fitzgerald and others are looking to find an earn a spot on the two-deep. It very much looks like Jeffery is squarely in the conversation, and that’s a great development for Notre Dame.
