US LBM Coaches Poll No. 3 Notre Dame is on the fast track to an undefeated regular season and a bid to the College Football Playoff.
Crain & Cone, an On3 college sports show, released on Monday its top-25 power rankings after Week 5. The trio currently have the Fighting Irish at No. 5 following a “convincing victory” over North Carolina this past weekend.
Quarterback CJ Carr, who was 21-of-29 on completions for 234 yards and four touchdowns along with a rushing score, impressed Crain & Cone.
Crain & Cone also noted that Notre Dame continues “to look like one of the most complete teams outside the SEC.” The power rankings currently have five SEC teams within the top 10.
“Carr’s development is raising the ceiling of Marcus Freeman’s team’s offense,”
noted in Crain & Cone’s power rankings. “If the quarterback continues performing at this level, Notre Dame should remain firmly positioned near the top of the playoff picture throughout the remainder of the season.”
