Notre Dame senior guard Hannah Hidalgo has established herself as one of the elite women’s basketball players in the country.
It’s why last year Hidalgo won the Nancy Lieberman Award, which is given to the top point guard in Division I women’s basketball. Hidalgo was the second player in program history to win the award after Skylar Diggins received it twice in 2012 and 2013.
On Monday, Notre Dame athletics announced that Hidalgo is once again in consideration for the award when added to the watchlist for the 2026-27 season.
Hidalgo has been named an Associated Press Preseason All-American and the Preseason ACC Player of the Year. Last season, she led the ACC with 25.3-points per game and had a nation-best 5.6 steals per game. Hidalgo also averaged
6.9-rebounds and 5.2-assists per contest.
Her 202 steals last season were an NCAA single-season record. Hidalgo and the Fighting Irish kick off their 2026-27 regular season against Villanova on Sunday, Nov. 1, at noon ET at the Eternal City Tip-Off in Rome, Italy.
