Coach Marcus Freeman provided an update on sophomore wide receiver Quincy Porter’s knee injury at Monday’s press conference.
Freeman stated at the beginning of his presser that Porter will have season-ending surgery on his patellar tendon, according to Mike Berardino of the South Bend Tribune.
Porter didn’t play for the Irish in the regular season since he transferred from Ohio State to Notre Dame in early 2026.
Freeman noted that the sophomore had a “flare up” in his knee. An MRI over the weekend showed that the knee wasn’t healing, the coach added. A timetable for Porter’s return before next season hasn’t been determined.
Porter played in four games for the Buckeyes in his freshman year. He recorded four receptions for 59-yards and will now have
to wait until next season to make his mark in South Bend.
Marcus Freeman: Tough news with Quincy Porter. He had a flareup and will have season-ending surgery on his patellar tendon. #NotreDame
