Notre Dame football wants to put together the best staff in the country, and on Tuesday it added to an already impressive front office roster.
According to Mike Singer, the Irish have already hired Wes Yerty from Ole Miss as the director of scouting, as he was previously their player personnel coordinator. A former wide receiver for the Memphis Tigers who quickly moved into coaching following his playing career ending in 2022, started as a recruiting analyst for his alma mater.
Yerty would take over as the director of football operations for Cal Poly in 2023 before taking his role with Ole Miss in 2025. He already has some relationships with players Notre Dame is currently recruiting, which gives him a head start on his new role with the Irish.
It’s been a fairly quick rise in the profession for Yerty, and he’ll do a great job within head coach Marcus Freeman’s staff.
While it will be difficult to raise the recruiting bar, it’s already been raised multiple times over the last few seasons, the addition of Yerty is significant in Notre Dame’s recruiting and roster managements plan.

He comes to Notre Dame from Ole Miss, where he had been the Rebels’ player personnel coordinator.
