It was quite the showing for Notre Dame running back Jonaz Walton against Stanford, taking his first carry 97-yards for a score, and ending up with the freshman single-game rushing record with 181 yards.
In total, heβd account for 209-yards and two touchdowns, perhaps vaulting him to the top of the depth chart as BYU looms. Walton was recognized by 247Sports, as they named him their Freshman of the Week. Cody Nagel, who made the pice, noted that heβs now has two 100-yard rushing games in-a-row, as his playing time has dramatically increased as the season has progressed.
Coming out of high school, Walton was the No. 11 running back and No. 128 overall prospect in the 247Sports composite, a ranking that in hindsight might have been too low. He now
leads the team in rushing through 6 games with 409-yards, averaging an impressive 7.9 yards-per-carry.
Walton is looking like the next great Notre Dame running back, one that has a rich history of producing elite talent.
