Two Notre Dame Fighting Irish players have been named mid-season All-Americans by On3 Sports.
One is defensive lineman Boubacar Traore, who earns a first-team nod, and the other is offensive lineman Anthonie Knapp, who earns a second-team nod.
Both players are key to Notre Dame's 6-1 record so far and the Irish will need contributions from both going forward as they attempt to make the playoffs.
Traore was ejected from Saturday's game against BYU for a targeting foul on the fifth play from scrimmage, and his impact on the Irish is such that pundits wondered aloud if his absence alone explained why the defense allowed 21 points in the first half -- and if his absence played a large part in the close loss to the Cougars.
