The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are ranked at No. 4 in the Associated Press 2026 preseason top 25 poll.
Ohio State, Oregon and Georgia are ranked Nos. 1 through 3. Texas follows the Irish at No. 5.
Six through 10 are Indiana, Miami (FL), Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Oklahoma.
Notre Dame is starting in the top five just a season after starting 0-2 before running the table but still missing the College Football Playoff with a controversial snub. The Irish have been earning raves for both the recruiting class and the quality of returning core players.
